Beijing, August 4 /Xinhua/ — Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, sharply criticized on Tuesday the statement of the Philippine Department of Defense published on July 31, calling it a vile political provocation.
This statement is full of lies and malicious attacks and constitutes interference in China’s internal affairs, emphasized the Chinese diplomat, adding that the Chinese side firmly opposes this.
According to Lin Qiang, a small group of anti-China forces in the Philippines, driven by selfish political interests and aiming to conceal the maritime violations committed by the Philippines, is actively engaging in political and informational manipulations, distorting facts in every possible way and misleading the public.
“Their attempts will not succeed,” Lin Jian stated. He noted that this small group of individuals fabricated the so-called “statement” issued on behalf of a government agency, in order to take hostage and undermine China-Philippines relations, as well as to violate the commitments made by the Philippines during recent diplomatic contacts.
“We once again call on these individuals to cease provocations and incitements, and to stop making slanderous attacks against China. Otherwise, they will inevitably pay for their vile actions,” warned the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC.
“We would like to reiterate that the implementation of the PRC Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress contributes to the more effective protection of the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic groups and will serve as a strong legal guarantee for the cause of national unity and progress,” added Lin Jian.
