Tehran, April 9 /Xin Hua/ — The cessation of strikes against Lebanon is an integral part of the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran. This fact was emphasized by the President of Iran Masud Pezeshkian and the Speaker of the country’s parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

M. Pezeshkian and M. B. Ghalibaf made this statement on Thursday on the social network X after Israeli military aircraft, despite the ceasefire, carried out a series of air strikes on Lebanese territory, resulting in hundreds of people being killed or wounded.

The President of Iran stated that “the resumption of aggression” by Israel against Lebanon “grossly violates the original ceasefire agreement,” adding: “Such actions indicate deception and non-compliance with agreements, making negotiations meaningless.”

M. B. Galibaf on his part called Lebanon and the entire “Axis of Resistance” “allies of Iran,” stating that according to the first point of the Iranian proposal of 10 points on ending the war, they are an “integral part of the ceasefire regime.”

The chairman of the Iranian parliament emphasized: “Violations of the ceasefire regime entail specific casualties and harsh retaliatory measures. Cease fire immediately.”

On April 8, Israel delivered the largest strike on Lebanon during the current war, declaring that its fight against the Hezbollah movement is not part of a two-week ceasefire with Iran. As a result of the shelling, more than 200 people were killed, and hundreds were wounded.

The United States and Iran announced a ceasefire early Wednesday morning. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Jewish state will observe the ceasefire but will continue military operations in Lebanon.
