Beijing, August 4 /Xinhua/ — In the first half of 2026, the volume of trade in services in China increased by 8.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
The total volume of import and export of services from January to June this year amounted to approximately 3.78 trillion yuan / about 556.56 billion US dollars /.
During the reporting period, the export of tourism services showed the highest growth rate among the top five sectors of service exports, increasing by 31.1% to 229.2 billion yuan.
The volume of trade in knowledge-intensive services over the same period increased by 6.7% compared to the corresponding period last year to 1.66 trillion yuan, accounting for 44% of the total volume of trade in services. Notably, revenues from the use of intellectual property and exports of individual cultural and entertainment services grew by 44.3% and 57.2% respectively.
The data published on Tuesday also showed that the volume of imports of transportation services during this period amounted to 498.1 billion yuan, an increase of 30.4%, which was the highest growth rate among the five leading categories of service imports. -0-
