Acting President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov paid an official visit to the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.
The head of the republic was greeted by the rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy, the first pro-rector Vitaly Sergeev, the pro-rector for educational activities Lyudmila Pankova, the pro-rector for scientific work Yuri Fomin, the pro-rector for international activities Dmitry Arsenyev, the pro-rector for additional and pre-university education Dmitry Tikhonov, and the scientific secretary Dmitry Karpov.
Welcoming the distinguished guest, Andrey Rudskoy congratulated him on the responsible mission of fulfilling the duties of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia. Prior to this, Marat Arkadyevich held the position of Chairman of the Government.
During the meeting with the leadership of SPbPU, the discussion focused on how the scientific and educational potential of the Polytechnic can be utilized in the development of science and higher education in the republic.
“I would like a group of specialists from the Polytechnic University to come, take a look, and assess the prospects for the development of higher education in the republic. We are ready to cooperate; all we need is your willingness”. — said Marat Kambolov.
“Marat Arkadyevich, this is a great honor for us and a very interesting new challenge, — thanked Andrey Rudskoy. — We already have experience collaborating with Slavic universities in Armenia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. I believe this will be useful in the case of your country’s higher education as well. It’s important to start off strong immediately. A new worldview is needed here..
The rector of SPbPU also noted that Polytech specialists have a wide range of competencies to assist in solving economic issues, particularly in matters of digitalization and the implementation of new technologies in production.
As a result of the negotiations, a decision was made to prepare materials on the capabilities of the Polytechnic University in the areas important for the development of science, education, and the economy of South Ossetia, and then a group of experts from SPbPU will go to the country to analyze the situation and formulate proposals for improving higher education.
At the end of the visit, the rector of Polytech solemnly presented Marat Kambolov with SPbPU’s highest award — the distinction “For Merit.”
