Beijing, July 29 /Xinhua/ — China recently released the 15th Five-Year Plan for the development of the postal industry, which outlines 10 key tasks, including improving services and accelerating the development of a modern delivery and logistics network.
The plan, issued jointly by the State Postal Administration and several other government agencies, also sets specific quantitative targets for 2030.
By 2030, the total revenue of the country’s postal industry is expected to reach 2.4 trillion yuan (approximately 353.47 billion USD), with a total delivery volume of 290 billion shipments. It is forecasted that the express delivery sector alone will generate revenues of 2 trillion yuan, with an operation volume of 270 billion parcels.
These target indicators also reflect China’s determined efforts to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas: by 2030, postal delivery will be carried out in 90% of administrative villages at least five times a week.
As for the quality of service, the on-time delivery rate within 72 hours in key regions will be 88 percent.
The plan also provides that by 2030, 80 percent of the packaging used by express delivery companies will comply with green standards. -0-
