On Tuesday, July 28, as part of their visit to the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, PJSC KAMAZ was visited by a delegation of representatives from the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” led by its president Mikhail Kovalchuk.
At KAMAZ, guests were welcomed by the CEO Sergey Kogogin, Deputy CEO – Development Director Eldar Shavaliev, and other top managers of the company.
The business program began with a visit to the KAMAZ Visitor Center: representatives of the Kurchatov Institute were told about the unique history of KAMAZ, and a substantive discussion took place about the development of automotive engineering, new technologies, and the modern achievements of the domestic automotive industry leader. Delegation members also visited the company’s most modern factory with a high degree of automation – the Cab Frame Plant. At KAMAZ’s final production stage – the Automobile Plant – guests were shown the operation of the cab assembly conveyor and the main assembly conveyor.
At the Scientific and Technical Center training ground, an exhibition of modern KAMAZ vehicle models was organized, showcasing the company’s extensive manufacturing capabilities. The exhibition featured 20 units of automotive equipment: the latest high-tech KAMAZ K5 generation tractors and dump trucks, including gas-powered and unmanned versions of the KAMAZ-54901 highway tractor, the fifth-generation electric bus KAMAZ-52222, the all-wheel-drive shift bus KAMAZ-6250, vehicles for work in quarries and lumber industry enterprises. Meanwhile, the unmanned MAYAK-2 vehicle, based on the KAMAZ-54901 highway tractor, was demonstrated in motion. The flagship of the K5 model range – KAMAZ-54901, the electric garbage truck KAMAZ-53198 “Chistogor,” the medium-duty KAMAZ Kompas truck, and the electric vehicle “Atom” were available for test drives. Mikhail Kovalchuk drove the “Atom.”
