Bishkek, July 28 /Xinhua/ — The Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SCO/ is gaining new significant opportunities for its development amid accelerating global changes unseen in a whole century. This is stated in a report by the Xinhua State Analytical Center, published on Monday.
A report titled “Advocating for Equality and Justice, Improving Global Governance: Achievements, Opportunities, and Prospects for SCO Cooperation” was published in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
It presents a systematic review of the advanced achievements and historical accomplishments of the SCO over 25 years since its inception, provides an in-depth analysis of the broad opportunities for cooperation within the organization in the current international conditions, and comprehensively reveals the prospects and global significance of building a community of a shared future for the SCO.
The report notes that the SCO has become the largest regional international organization in the world in terms of geographical coverage and population size.
Over the past years, it has firmly upheld justice, improved the institutional framework, and put into practice the “Shanghai Spirit,” based on the principles of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity, and the pursuit of common development.
As stated in the report, the SCO has become an important force in promoting peace and development worldwide, in protecting international integrity and justice.
Over the next decade, the SCO will expand cooperation in key areas such as development strategies, connectivity, green transformation, financial innovation, security, and humanitarian exchanges, ushering in a new phase of high-quality development characterized by even greater cohesion, coordination, dynamism, and efficiency.
The report emphasizes that the member countries of the organization will continue to play a guiding role, accelerating the building of the SCO community with a shared future, acting as builders of a just and rational international order and as an example of a new type of international relations.
The SCO member states will also demonstrate responsibility in global affairs, strengthen the cohesion and international influence of the organization, promote the formation of a more just and rational system of global governance, and jointly move forward on the path of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
