Security Council meeting on Ukraine

In particular, reports indicate an acceleration of the legalization process for farming outposts in the occupied West Bank and the establishment of new such points. This was stated today by the spokesperson for the UN chief. According to Guterres, settlement activity constitutes a violation of international law and remains one of the main obstacles to the implementation of the two-state solution and the achievement of a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace.
Aid in Iran
The World Food Programme (WFP) welcomed the European Union’s allocation of funding amounting to 3.08 million euros, which will allow support for refugees in Iran and Iranians affected by conflict to continue for a year. The country hosts a significant number of refugees, most of whom have arrived from Afghanistan. With the support of the EU, the UN agency will provide food and cash assistance to more than 35,000 of the most vulnerable refugees, as well as 17,000 Iranians affected by the conflict.
Venezuela and the ICC
The independent international UN fact-finding mission on Venezuela expressed deep concern over the country’s authorities’ announcement of their withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC). Experts noted that the current administration has so far not taken significant steps to advance investigations of human rights violations and international crimes documented over more than ten years. In their opinion, the decision to withdraw from the ICC is aimed at evading accountability at the international level. The mission called on the authorities of Venezuela to reconsider their decision.
