Washington, April 9 /Xin Hua/ — Washington is developing an adjusted plan ahead of closed-door negotiations that will soon begin in Islamabad. This was announced on Wednesday by White House Press Secretary Karoline Livitt at a press briefing.
“The president’s ‘red lines,’ namely the cessation of uranium enrichment in Iran, have not changed,” K. Levitt noted, emphasizing that the US readiness for negotiations depends on the resumption of operations in the Strait of Hormuz “without any restrictions or delays.”
According to the semi-official news agency Fars, Iran has again suspended tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz following an Israeli attack on Lebanon.
“Lebanon is not a participant in the ceasefire agreement. This was conveyed to all parties involved in the ceasefire,” said K. Levitt.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted on Wednesday that the U.S. must make a choice between ceasing fire and continuing the conflict through Israel, referring to the ongoing strikes on Lebanon.
“The conditions of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the USA are clear and unambiguous: the USA must choose — ceasefire or continuation of the war with Israel’s help. Both cannot happen simultaneously,” wrote the head of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence on the social network X, adding that the ball is in the USA’s court and the world is watching whether they fulfill their obligations. –0–
