Beijing, July 27 /Xinhua/ — China plans to establish by 2030 an epidemiological monitoring network for respiratory infectious diseases covering more than 15 pathogens. This work will be carried out as part of a development strategy focusing on public health and measures to strengthen the country’s capacity in public health.

According to the five-year plan published on Monday by the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control of China, China also intends to intensify immunization of key population groups, including the elderly and children, improve healthcare management in high-risk areas, and enhance readiness for potential outbreaks of new respiratory infectious diseases.

The plan, designed for 2026-2030, aims at modernizing the national public health system and enhancing its ability to timely detect potential disease outbreaks and respond to them. –0–
