Beijing, July 24 /Xinhua/ — The Philippines must immediately stop their violations and provocations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian on Friday.

Lin Jian made this statement at the latest departmental press conference in response to a request to comment on recent incidents in the waters near the Chinese island of Huangyan Island.

Noting that Huangyan Island is an inherent territory of China, Lin Jian stated that the relevant Philippine vessels deliberately intruded into the territorial waters near China’s Huangyan Island. “China has a legitimate right to take necessary measures to protect its rights and national security. The actions taken by the Chinese side are professional, standard, and do not cause any complaints,” said the Chinese diplomat. -0-
