Beijing, July 23 /Xinhua/ — On Thursday, at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai /East China/, Chinese police handed over an American citizen to US law enforcement agencies upon their request. The individual is wanted for committing serious violent crimes within the United States.
According to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of the PRC, the fugitive, who was on the most wanted list of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), was extradited to the United States under escort by law enforcement officers of the American side.
In 2004, a warrant was issued in the United States for the arrest of the fugitive. He is suspected of committing serious violent crimes, including sexual assault of a minor and the murder of his wife.
In August 2005, Interpol issued a “red notice” for the search of this person. At the request of the American side, Chinese police conducted a thorough investigation and eventually arrested him.
