Yinchuan, July 23 /Xinhua/ — Member of the State Council of China Shen Yiqin called for active efforts to improve the service and support system for retired military personnel.

Shen Yiqin made the respective statement during an inspection and familiarization trip to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in Northwest China, which lasted from July 21 to 23.

A member of the State Council visited enterprises, service centers for retired military personnel, social assistance institutions, and industrial parks, where she examined the situation regarding employment and entrepreneurial activities of retirees, as well as the functioning of their service and support system.

Noting that retired military personnel are an important force in promoting Chinese modernization, she called for increased support for their employment and business activities, encouraging their participation in grassroots governance, rural revitalization, and industrial development.

Shen Yiqin called on local authorities to continue the glorious traditions and strengthen the cohesion between the army and the government, between the army and the people.
