Chengdu, July 23 /Xinhua/ — Vice Premier of the State Council of China Zhang Guoqing stated on Thursday that China is ready to work jointly with all parties to deepen practical cooperation in the fields of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), in order to give an even stronger impetus to building an Asia-Pacific community.

Zhang Guoqing, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the corresponding statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meeting on digital technology and AI, held in Chengdu, the administrative center of Sichuan Province (Southwestern China).

As noted by the Vice Premier of the State Council, China will maintain its commitment to innovative development, comprehensively promote technological innovation, industrial development, and the expansion of application scenarios in the AI sector, guiding the digital and intelligent modernization of the Asia-Pacific region (APR).

China will facilitate the joint development of standards and regulations, as well as industrial cooperation, promote the adoption of open-source technologies and open collaboration to foster the region’s digital prosperity, promised Zhang Guoqing.

He also stated that China will continue to promote the construction of digital and AI infrastructure, facilitating the safe, orderly, and efficient circulation and use of data for the benefit of the peoples of the Asia-Pacific region.

China, the Vice Premier of the State Council added, will strengthen the integration and coordination of development strategies, management rules, and technical standards, and together with all parties will form a fair and rational system of global AI governance.
