Specialistsurban economy complexFountains at VDNH are being prepared for the opening of the new season. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement.Petr Biryukov.
“As part of the spring cleaning of the city, we will wash after winter and prepare for the opening of 14 fountains located on the Central Alley. The work will be carried out by a team of municipal services with the involvement of specialists,” noted Petr Biryukov.
The fountains at VDNH are complex architectural and artistic structures with many decorative elements, so they require careful maintenance and are washed manually. For this purpose, a special biodegradable cleaning agent is used. It is distributed over the surface with the help of brushes, and then washed off with water using a high-pressure device.
Specialists thoroughly wash the granite cladding of fountain bowls, decorative bronze elements, underwater lighting fixtures, and other details of the structures. Before starting work, they also check the technical condition of the fountains: inspecting all the structures in the underground collector, evaluating the operation of hydraulics and pumping equipment, and inspecting the jet-forming elements.
In 2018–2019, the VDNH underwent a reconstruction of fountains — objects of cultural heritage of federal significance. Fourteen fountains on the Central Alley were renovated, as well as the famous fountains “Golden Ear”, “Stone Flower” and “Friendship of Peoples”. The structures were returned to their historical appearance and the engineering systems were fully modernized.
