Yesterday, on July 22, 2026, the Foundry Plant of PJSC “KAMAZ” turned 55 years old.
In 1970, the first scoop of earth was removed at the construction site of the first facility of the Foundry Plant – the gray and ductile iron building. On July 22, 1971, Arkady Vasilyevich Lobanov was appointed the first director of the plant. This day is considered the enterprise’s birthday. Today, 4,600 people work here, who competently fulfill all assigned tasks. Among the key goals of the team are to fulfill 100% of the order for KAMAZ, develop the domestic market, and explore the markets of friendly countries. First and foremost, this includes diversification products for Russian Railways (RZD) and the oil industry.
“We have accomplished the diversification tasks. Volumes have not decreased, we have even increased them – today, according to the business plan, we have a positive balance of 80 million rubles. For example, we regained orders for the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant: we increased the production of cylinder blocks to 1,500 units and crankshafts to 2,300 sets per month. We intend to raise the monthly product delivery from diversification to 120 million rubles.”, – he said Director of the Foundry Plant Sergey Garanin. A lot of work has also been done to improve casting quality. Labor productivity increased by 14% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the operating equipment was optimized. For example, previously six lines were used in cast iron production; now orders are fulfilled on three to four molding lines with fewer personnel.
“We strive to keep up with the times. First, we have implemented additive technologies: purchased, installed, and launched two 3D printers. They allow us to quickly print cores and molds without making model tooling. This saves resources and time for mastering new products. Second, we actively apply digitalization. We launched the pilot project ‘Signal’ in cast iron production. This information system tracks the quality of the molding mixture, allowing prompt action if deviations occur. Third, we modernized equipment and introduced 11 autogrinder machines for processing large cast iron castings, eliminating manual work by chippers. Fourth, we use ‘green’ approaches in foundry production. We launched new air and water purification systems.”, – noted Sergey Garanin.
As for the quality of the products manufactured, it is controlled step by step: from the moment of delivery of raw materials and supplies, then during production and at the shipment of finished products from the warehouses. In addition, internal and external audits are conducted at the enterprise jointly with the quality department.
