Beijing, July 23 /Xinhua/ — China aims to promote the continuity and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) within the framework of a new plan for the revitalization and development of TCM, developed for the implementation period of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) of the country.

The plan also provides for improving the system of high-quality TCM services, enhancing the ability of TCM to provide medical care throughout life, and promoting high-quality development of the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, among other priority tasks.

This document was jointly published by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy of the PRC and the National Development and Reform Commission of the PRC.

According to the plan, by 2030, the TCM sector must achieve breakthroughs in addressing a number of serious problems in the prevention and treatment of serious diseases, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, oncological diseases, kidney diseases, and infectious diseases.

Over the next five years, the system for providing HPC services at the grassroots level will also be modernized, and the potential for fundamental research will be significantly strengthened, ensuring access to HPC services for everyone, the plan states.

The plan also provides for the further development of TCM culture and the strengthening of its international influence.
