Beijing, July 23 /Xinhua/ — Currently, China is the main trading partner for more than 160 countries and regions worldwide, thanks to its diversified imports of goods, said Wang Jun, Deputy Head of China’s General Administration of Customs, at a press conference on Wednesday.
Wan Jun cited the example of durian imports, noting that since 2022 China has approved durian imports from five countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, and others. The volume of durian imports to China reached almost 1.87 million tons in 2025, which is twice as much as in 2022.
“People can now find durians everywhere in local fruit shops – the selection has become wider, and the prices more affordable,” said Wang Jun.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will continue to expand imports to meet diverse consumer demand, he added.
Ensuring safety, the customs authorities will continue to improve phytosanitary quarantine procedures for agricultural and food products, expand import sources, optimize customs clearance, and reduce logistics costs, said Wang Jun.
Measures will also be taken to gradually improve the shopping experience for tourists arriving in the country, such as further optimizing the services for value-added tax (VAT) refunds when leaving China, added Wang Jun. -0-
