Thanks to the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” the Federal Road Agency continues the construction and reconstruction of a section of the R-351 Yekaterinburg – Tyumen highway bypassing three settlements – Beloyarsky, Mezenskoye, and Malye Brusiany in the Sverdlovsk region. As of today, work on laying the asphalt concrete pavement on the section from the 64th to the 89th kilometer is nearing completion, reported Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“The renovated R-351 highway will become part of the M-12 “Vostok” motorway, providing seamless high-speed communication from Moscow to Tyumen. This will enhance transport and economic connections between Central Russia, the Volga region, the Urals, and Siberia. Currently, bypasses around Beloyarsky, Mezensky, and Maly Brusyan are being constructed on the Yekaterinburg – Tyumen road. This is an important project for the Sverdlovsk region. It will help divert transit traffic away from populated areas, which will positively impact the quality of life for local residents. The reconstruction of the section from km 35 to km 89 is in an active phase. As of today, specialists are completing asphalt paving over a 25-kilometer section. The embankment has been fully backfilled. Simultaneously, road workers are finishing the development of accompanying infrastructure. Seventy percent of the barrier fencing has been installed, 80% of the lighting system is in place, and road markings are being applied to the roadway,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that within the project, specialists are completing work on three artificial crossings over the Gryaznushka, Beleyka, and Solovyushka rivers. Key stages of work have been completed on all bridges: construction of foundations and supports, installation of span beams and slabs, as well as laying of the leveling layer and waterproofing. Work on laying cast asphalt concrete and crushed stone mastics asphalt, known for their wear resistance and durability, has been completed. Road workers are also installing metal barrier fences on the approaches to the bridges and directly on the structures themselves.
The reconstruction project is being carried out in five stages. The first stage is the section from the 35th km to the Beloyarsky–Asbest highway, with a total length of 22 km; the second stage is the new construction section, completing the bypass of the settlements of Beloyarsky, Mezenskoye, and Malye Brusyany, ending at the 66th km; the third and fourth stages involve the reconstruction of the existing road from the 66th to the 89th km; the fifth stage, from the 89th to the 107th km, the Bogdanovich bypass already put into operation in 2025, was completed a year ahead of schedule.
