The house where Fyodor Cherenkov lived
In 2022, the building at 16th Parkovaya Street (house 19, building 3) was refurbished. Fyodor Cherenkov — a Soviet and Russian footballer, midfielder — lived there. It is a nine-story apartment building, constructed in 1972 based on a standard series design. The building has a simple shape, with laconic facades without decorative elements. The walls, made of reinforced concrete panels, were originally faced with small-sized light gray ceramic tiles.
Specialists renovated the building’s facade, basement, roof, and also replaced a number of engineering systems. The modern technology using polymer-cement mixtures on reinforcing meshes to restore the facades of panel buildings, originally decorated with rectangular glazed tiles, is an opportunity to give late Soviet-era buildings a second life.
The basic cladding of wall panels was carried out at the factories. Now, during major renovations, specialists restore the façades’ original technical properties on site, making the building more energy-efficient and attractive.
For the convenience of residents, all restoration activities were divided into several stages. First, specialists conducted preparatory work — tapping the facade and removing bulging tiles. Then the surfaces were thoroughly washed with special cleaning agents, adhesive compounds with reinforcing mesh and decorative layers were applied. After that, they proceeded to seal the seams and paint the facade. For the building’s new appearance, modern colors “white marzipan,” “red henna,” and “signal white” were used.
Upon completion of the main volume of work, repairs were carried out on the entrance groups, balconies, and the basement part of the building. In addition, the building’s central heating mains, sewage, cold and hot water supply, as well as electrical wiring, were replaced.
The house where Sergey Ilyin lived
In 2025, a masterpiece of Soviet neoclassicism located at 3rd Frunzenskaya Street, house 1, was given new life. It was the residence of Sergei Ilyin, an honored Master of Sports of the USSR and a footballer. The twelve-story residential building was constructed in 1953 based on a custom design. The building has a complex shape, and an adjacent structure adjoins its end. The entrance groups are flanked by vertical bay windows and crowned with a mezzanine. The rustication of the first floor, the inter-floor cornice decorated with a frieze featuring Soviet symbols, are highlighted in an additional color. The facade is topped with a multi-profile cornice featuring a balustrade and pinnacles.
During the major renovation, specialists refurbished the facade and replaced the roofing material. The building’s walls were washed and cleaned. Then they repaired the plaster layer of the facade on the ground floor, restored lost elements of the brickwork and ceramic blocks, and also applied an antifungal treatment to areas exposed to moisture.
Special attention was given to preserving the architectural decor: the crowning cornice was repaired, the mezzanines were restored, and the brackets and balcony slabs were renovated. For painting the plaster layer and brick walls, a historical palette was used: the main facade was done in the color “light yellow wheat,” while the rustication and decorative elements, including pinnacles, were in a shade of “brown chestnut.”
Additionally, the site had its downspouts and drip edges replaced, and the granite plinth was restored. On the roof of the building, the continuous layer of battens was replaced with a new structure, the old roofing was dismantled, and the outdated metal coverings were replaced with modern ones. All wooden elements of the attic space were treated with a fire and bio-protective compound, which significantly reduces the likelihood of fire.
The house where Lev Yashin lived
In 2026, the building on Millionnaya Street (house 15, building 1) will be renovated. This is where Lev Yashin was born and raised — a legend of world sports and the best goalkeeper of the 20th century. The five-story building was constructed in 1929 according to an individual design in the constructivist style. The building has a complex shape in plan and is made without decorative elements.
Specialists are repairing the facade, roof, entrances, and basement. The house will also have risers and mains of engineering systems replaced. To preserve the historical appearance of the building, a unique project was developed taking into account every structural detail.
As part of the major renovation, the facade cleaning has already been completed. Then the specialists restored all the weathered joints and damaged segments of the brickwork, and treated the damp areas with a biocidal compound. In addition, the balconies and loggias were updated.
The building will be restored to its historical colors. Pearl white and brick red shades will be used for the walls. Finally, the plinth, entrance groups will be repaired, and the drainage system will be replaced.
The roofing membrane will be replaced on the roof. Specialists have already dismantled all layers of rolled waterproofing and old screed — they made a new cement-sand one. Now they are laying a two-layer rolled waterproofing membrane by torching.
As part of the major renovation, the entrances and basement will also be cleared and refurbished, and the electrical supply systems, central heating, drainage, cold and hot water supply will be replaced.
