From July 15 to August 17, Polytechnics can submit applications to participate in two city competitions for the award of named scholarships from the Government of Saint Petersburg for the 2026/2027 academic year. These competitions are held annually to encourage educational, scientific, social, creative, and sports activities of university and college students.
Named scholarships from the St. Petersburg government will be awarded to 640 of the best students and applicants based on competitive selections. Recipients of 320 scholarships in the fields of physics, mathematics, chemistry, Russian language, and information technology will be first- and second-year full-time students enrolled in bachelor’s and specialist degree programs.
The competition is open to:
- applicants who have submitted applications to the admissions committees of universities and scientific organizations in Saint Petersburg for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs on a full-time basis and in accredited fields. Applications are accepted from applicants who, within three years prior to the year of admission, including that year, became winners and prize-winners of international school Olympiads, the All-Russian School Olympiad, Olympiads under the aegis of the Russian Council of School Olympiads, and winners of the “Support for Scientific and Engineering Creativity of Senior School Students” competition;
- full-time first-year students of educational institutions studying under state-accredited higher education programs (bachelor’s and specialist’s degrees), who have demonstrated outstanding abilities, achieved significant success in the field or area of the named scholarship they receive, and have been nominated by the academic councils of the educational institutions.

Polytechnic students will be assisted by university staff. The institute administrations will send all necessary documents to students who meet the competition criteria. After signing them, the students must return them to the administration of their institute. Submission of electronic documents to the Committee on Science and Higher Education will be carried out centrally through the university’s personal account, while paper documents will be submitted through staff of the scholarship and contract department.
Applicants submit all documents electronically and in paper form on their own. But if they need assistance, they can contact the admissions office or room 346 of the first building.
Named scholarships will also be awarded to 240 senior university students and 80 college students in the city. Of the 320 scholarships, 24 will be awarded based on the results of the selection to winners of contests in the field of linguistics and literary studies named after D. A. Granin, in the field of physical sciences named after Z. I. Alferov, in the field of musical art named after A. P. Petrov, and in the humanities named after G. V. Starovoitova.

Scholarships are awarded starting from September 1 and are paid monthly throughout the entire year.
