Washington, July 20 /Xinhua/ — US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that he had a telephone conversation with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham. The parties discussed issues such as North Sea oil, trade, a military alliance, and the clearing of mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The leaders of the two countries also discussed American-British relations and agreed to meet “in the near future” to discuss issues of mutual interest, wrote D. Trump on Truth Social.

“The Prime Minister has a big task ahead, but he will handle it, and, of course, the US will be ready to help!” said D. Trump. “The conversation was interesting and went very well.”

E. Burnham, leader of the UK Labour Party, officially took office as Prime Minister on Monday. –0–
