Washington, July 20 /Xinhua/ — On Monday, the US military launched another wave of strikes on Iran, marking the 10th consecutive day of attacks. This was reported by the United States Central Command /CENTCOM/.

“Today at 4:00 PM Eastern Time, the American military, under the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, began a new round of strikes on Iran,” the command reported on the social network X.

“These strikes are intended to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities used for attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM added.

Earlier on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump promised to take retaliatory measures in connection with the recent death of American servicemen. CNN reported that D. Trump is considering options to escalate the conflict with Iran, and the Pentagon has sent additional fighters and refueling aircraft to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, mediators have proposed the idea of a 10-day truce aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran and facilitating the resumption of negotiations, CNN reports citing sources familiar with the situation. –0–
