Los Angeles, July 20 /Xinhua/ — Ten people, including the suspect, were injured in a mass shooting that occurred Sunday night in Tucson, in the American state of Arizona, local authorities reported.
Representatives of the city police department stated that the shooting occurred at around 2:00 AM local time /09:00 GMT/ on Sunday in a crowded area of downtown Tucson, the second largest city in Arizona.
Police officers patrolling the area heard gunshots and immediately rushed towards the sound, local media reported citing the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, they saw a man fleeing. The suspect ignored the order to stop, forcing one of the police officers to open fire.
Law enforcement officers provided first aid to the victims at the scene, after which Tucson fire services transported them to the nearest hospital. “The suspect has been detained, several victims with serious injuries are receiving medical care,” reported the Tucson Police Department on the social network X. –0–
