Wonsan /DPRK/, July 17 /Xinhua/ — Wang Huning, Chairman of the All-China Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), expressed the Chinese side’s readiness to cooperate with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to promote the sustainable development of bilateral relations. Wang Huning made this statement during an official goodwill visit to the DPRK, held from July 15 to 17 at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the government of the DPRK.

According to him, during the visit, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un held a lengthy and in-depth exchange of views and reached a number of important consensuses, which outlined a bright plan for the development of China-North Korea relations in the new era and gave a strong impetus to the socialist cause of both countries.
As Wang Huning pointed out, China is ready to firmly implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries together with the DPRK, fully leverage the strategic guiding role of exchanges at the highest level, and ensure that the relations between the two parties and two countries always develop in a direction consistent with the goals of strengthening socialist construction and promoting the modernization of each country.

Kim Jong Un, in turn, first of all conveyed to Xi Jinping heartfelt greetings and best wishes, as well as expressed warm congratulations on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Noting that holding large-scale events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the DPRK and the PRC is a consensus reached together with the Chinese leader, Kim Jong Un emphasized that the signing of the treaty defined the strategic nature of relations between the two countries and ensured the strategic direction of bilateral ties.
According to Kim Jong Un, the recent historic visit of Xi Jinping to the DPRK marked an important milestone on the path to transforming relations between the DPRK and China into a model of ties between socialist states. The North Korean side will adhere to the course of developing relations with China as a crucial strategic priority, continue to cultivate and inherit the spirit of the agreement, strengthen top-level exchanges with the Chinese side, deepen the exchange of experience in party building and other areas, enhance political and strategic mutual trust, expand cooperation in areas such as the economy, science, technology, healthcare, and culture to bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries, he stated.
During the meeting with Choe Yong-won, who is also a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Wang Huning pointed out that the exchange of high-level delegations between China and the DPRK, as well as the holding of solemn events on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the PRC and the DPRK, demonstrates the high attention and firm determination with which the top leaders of the two parties and two countries approach the development of interstate relations.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of China expressed China’s readiness to work with the DPRK to strengthen their traditional friendship and elevate bilateral relations to a higher level. Wang Huning also outlined the essence and main content of Xi Jinping’s ideas on party building.
Choe Yong Won, for his part, stated that the deep friendship between General Secretary Kim Jong Un and General Secretary Xi Jinping and their strategic leadership serve as the fundamental cornerstone and inexhaustible driving force of the relations between the DPRK and China.
He pointed out that the DPRK, following the will of the leaders of the two states, will strengthen the exchange of experience with China in the field of party and state governance and promote the continuous development of the socialist cause in both countries.
During the visit, Wang Huning visited the China-DPRK Friendship Monument, laid flowers at the memorial cemetery for fallen Chinese People’s Volunteers located in Sunan District, Pyongyang, paid tribute to the deceased DPRK leaders at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, and toured the Central Cadre Training School of the WPK.
Accompanied by Cho Yeon Won and other officials, Wang Huning also paid a familiarization visit to the city of Wonsan. –0–
