Pyongyang, July 16 /Xinhua/ — Member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the DPRK, member of the Presidium of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Deputy Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Pak Tae Song on Thursday participated here in a reception dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the PRC and the DPRK.

According to him, 65 years ago, the older generations of leaders of China and the DPRK signed the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance, laying an important political and legal foundation for strengthening the combat friendship between the two peoples.
For 65 years, the parties have upheld the spirit of the treaty, supported each other, maintained unity, cooperated, and fought shoulder to shoulder. Their political mutual trust has steadily strengthened, exchanges and cooperation have kept pace with the times, and strategic coordination has become increasingly close, clearly demonstrating the defining features of the relationship between China and the DPRK — friendship passed down through generations, a shared destiny, and mutual support, noted Wang Huning.
He stated that China is ready, together with the DPRK, to resolutely implement the important consensus reached by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and General Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Un, and to use the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the signing of the treaty as an opportunity to continue the glorious traditions and firmly guide the development of bilateral relations in the right direction, deepen exchanges and mutual learning to constantly improve the welfare of the peoples of the two countries and strengthen friendship between them, demonstrate a sense of responsibility to the era, and unite efforts to reinforce peace and stability in the region and across the globe.
In turn, Pak Tae Song stated that since its signing 65 years ago, the treaty has made an important contribution to the active development of relations between the DPRK and China, the advancement of socialism in both countries, as well as to ensuring peace, stability, and security in Northeast Asia.
Today’s solemn event fully demonstrates the great strategic significance of the treaty and the high vitality of the friendship between the DPRK and China, he added.
The DPRK is ready to follow the important agreements reached by General Secretary Kim Jong Un and General Secretary Xi Jinping, continue to uphold the spirit of the agreement, steadily strengthen the DPRK-China relations based on socialism, and jointly write a new chapter in the history of friendship between the two countries. –0–
