Sakhalin Oblast will participate in the exhibition “Far East Street,” which will take place within the framework of the XI Eastern Economic Forum. The island region’s exposition will be dedicated to the main investment and social projects, the history and culture of Sakhalin, as well as provide information about the development of unmanned aviation. The exhibition is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District.
“Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands remain among the most dynamically developing territories of the Far East. Within the framework of the TOR ‘Sakhalin,’ under agreements with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, projects are being implemented by 95 residents, with 22 projects already operational. Investments of 51.5 billion rubles have already been made into the region’s economy out of the planned 234.8 billion, creating more than 3,500 jobs, with another 12,300 to be created. Additionally, by order of the head of state, a master plan for the South Sakhalin agglomeration is being implemented. With the help of the Far Eastern presidential unified subsidy, social infrastructure is being modernized. The island region is becoming more attractive for tourism and relocation. I am confident the region has something to showcase at the Eastern Economic Forum and the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition and to surprise the pavilion’s guests,” said Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum Yuri Trutnev.
The slogan of the pavilion “Sakhalin and the Kurils – Islands of the Future” reflects the ideas of technological progress, social orientation, and the investment attractiveness of the region.
“Today, business is actively investing in logistics, tourism infrastructure, the fishing industry, the coal sector, processing, agriculture, housing construction and the construction industry, localization of oilfield services, modernization of utilities, healthcare, and education. We have achieved not only a record investment volume but also the highest growth rate. Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands are islands of the future, where today a reality is being built that people want to invest in,” noted the governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko.
The “Sakhalin Region Economy” zone will present the results of work within the framework of national projects in medicine, education, and urban development. In particular, visitors to the exhibition will be able to get acquainted with the “Happy Motherhood” program, aimed at a comprehensive solution to the demographic problem in the region. Separate modules will be dedicated to the “Gorny Vozdukh” ski resort and the scientific and educational cluster “SakhalinTech.”
The pavilion’s cultural program will introduce exhibition guests to the creative life of the islands. Sakhalin artists will perform on stage, while painters will conduct performances and master classes. Virtual journeys will transport guests to the caldera of Mount Golovnin, the seal haul-outs, and the legendary Aniva lighthouse. The pavilion will be decorated with murals and works by Sakhalin photographers. Guests can look forward to quizzes with prizes and an open-air coffee bar.
In addition, the “Made in Sakhalin” booth will showcase regional brands: clothing, gastro souvenirs, health products, and film industry products. Meanwhile, the “Professional Development” area will be dedicated to topics related to supporting youth in the labor market, and success stories of those who have tied their lives to Sakhalin.
The 11th Eastern Economic Forum will be held from September 1 to 4 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. During these days, the exhibition will be accessible to forum participants, and on September 5, 6, and 7 it will open to everyone interested. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of Russia.
