Beijing, July 15 /Xinhua/ — According to official data, in June 2026, in 70 large and medium-sized cities in China, the pace of decline in housing prices compared to the same period last year continued to slow down, adding signs of gradual stabilization in the real estate market.
Data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) showed that in June, prices for new housing in the four first-tier cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen – fell by 1.3 percent compared to the same period last year, with the rate of decline decreasing by 0.4 percentage points compared to May. Prices for secondary housing in these four cities dropped by 4.9 percent, with the rate of decline slowing by 0.9 percentage points.
Among the 31 second-tier cities and 35 third-tier cities monitored by GSU, the rate of price declines for both new and resale housing has also slowed compared to the same period last year and the previous month, except for new housing in third-tier cities, where the rate of decline remained unchanged.
According to the data, on a monthly basis, housing prices in first-tier cities rose in June, while housing prices in second- and third-tier cities either fell or remained unchanged.
Notably, in June, the number of cities reporting an increase in new housing prices on a monthly basis rose to 20 compared to 16 in May, which is the highest figure since May 2025. -0-
