Beijing, July 14 /Xinhua/ — The United States, pursuing geopolitical goals, constantly attempts to use “cybersecurity” as a pretext to smear China. The Chinese side expresses serious dissatisfaction and a resolute protest in this regard. This was stated on Tuesday by the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Lin Jian.

Lin Jian made the corresponding statement at a regular briefing for journalists, commenting on media reports that the United States and Paraguay had detected an intrusion into the cyber systems of the Paraguayan government, which they claimed was linked to China.

Lin Jian pointed out that China consistently opposes hacking activities and suppresses them in accordance with the law. At the same time, as emphasized by the Chinese diplomat, the Chinese side opposes the dissemination of false information related to cybersecurity for political purposes.

According to him, the United States has been conducting systematic cyberattacks worldwide for a long time while involving other countries in vilifying China on cybersecurity issues, pursuing its own geopolitical goals. The Chinese side expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute protest in this regard, Lin Jian stated.

“We urge the relevant countries not to become instruments of geopolitics and not to turn into accomplices of the American government in spreading disinformation about so-called ‘cyberattacks’ from China,” added the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. –0–
