Moscow is scaling up digital navigation: more than 500 innovative IoT signposts will connect the transport network by the end of 2026.

Moscow continues the large-scale integration of Smart City technologies into a unified navigation ecosystem for public transport. As reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, Maksim Liksutov, by the end of 2026 the number of innovative digital signboards in the city will exceed 500 units.

An important milestone in digitalization was the upgrade of Leningradsky station, where in May 125 innovative signs and 95 information elements were installed, making it the first fully digital railway station in Russia. The next step will be the integration of 160 dynamic screens at five stations of the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line by the end of this year.

Advantages of switching to intelligent IoT navigation:

– dynamic flow management: the system distributes passenger flows in real time, offering the most free and convenient routes during rush hours;

– data relevance: screens instantly display local information, for example, about schedule changes or the launch of new ground transportation routes near a specific station;

– environmental friendliness and operational flexibility: remote content updating takes less than a minute, completely eliminating the need to print paper layouts and conduct overnight installation work, reducing the entire production cycle to one day.

“Moscow is the world leader in the scale of digital navigation implementation in transport,” noted Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. “Just last year, the number of such elements more than doubled. According to the Development Strategy approved by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, by 2030 more than 30% of all signs in the capital’s transport will become digital. This will take passenger information to a fundamentally new level.”

Today, intelligent panels are already successfully operating on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya and Troitskaya metro lines.
