Deir ez-Zor /Syria/, July 13 /Xinhua/ — A passenger ferry capsized in the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria on Sunday, at least three children died, there are missing persons, their number is still unknown. This was reported by local authorities.
The vessel collided with a military bridge during the river crossing, which led to a subsequent tragedy.
Rescue teams found the bodies of two children and saved more than 13 people, Xinhua reported, citing Zain al-Aboud, a representative of the emergency response service. The body of a third child was later found by local residents about 20 km downstream.
