The sixth season of the youth and student tourism program “Studtourism,” launched in 2021 at the initiative of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, has started. It allows students, postgraduates, young scientists, and specialists under the age of 35 to travel while staying in the dormitories of universities participating in the project. To ensure the summer vacation is productive and enriching, special educational modules and popular science routes have been launched for the program participants.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke about the growing popularity of the program.
“Traveling across Russia should be accessible, comfortable, and memorable. This is emphasized by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The ‘Studtourism’ program stimulates youth tourism and deepens scientific and educational cooperation between various regions and even countries. It is constantly expanding: while in the first season 15 universities from 14 regions of the country participated, by 2026 the initiative is supported by 287 universities from 85 subjects of the Russian Federation. The program also includes universities from Belarus, Abkhazia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Ossetia, and Armenia,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
He added that in 2025, 20 thousand young people went on trips under the program, and this year 25 thousand are expected.
Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov noted that last year the most popular tourist destinations among program participants were the Kaliningrad region, Arkhangelsk region, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk region, and the Komi Republic.
“The Youth and Student Tourism Program makes a tangible contribution to achieving the goals of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Students, young scientists, and specialists do not just travel around the country – at partner universities they meet like-minded people in the field of scientific and research activities, establish professional connections, and, of course, immerse themselves in the history and culture of a specific region,” the minister said.
