Yangon, July 13 /Xinhua/ — A total of 1,681 people from 435 families had to be evacuated due to a dangerous rise in water levels in the Bilin River following prolonged heavy rains. The water flooded low-lying areas in the Bilin district of Myanmar’s Mon State. This was reported to Xinhua on Monday by a representative of the local fire service.
According to him, heavy rain began on Friday, prompting local authorities, firefighters, and volunteer rescue teams to carry out the evacuation of the population.
