Beijing, July 13 /Xinhua/ — In the first half of 2026, the number of China-Europe freight train shipments in Liaoning Province /Northeast China/ reached 280, with a total cargo volume of 29,222 standard containers /TEU/, both indicators increased by 169.2 percent and 162.2 percent respectively compared to the same period last year, reported the Chinese news agency “Zhongguo Xinwenshe” on its website.

Since the beginning of this year, the Shenyang branch of the state corporation “China Railway” /CR/ has been continuing to improve the organization of China-Europe rail freight transportation and is forming a system of highly efficient transportation, relying on the Alliance for the Development of Multimodal Transport of three provinces and one district in Northeast China, and cooperating with companies and organizations such as the container transport development company under CR.

Currently, the China-Europe cargo transportation routes opened in Liaoning Province pass through the “eastern corridor” /Manzhouli, Suifenhe, and Tongjiang checkpoints/, the “central corridor” /Erenhot checkpoint/, and the “western corridor” /Khorgos and Alashankou checkpoints/. They cover more than 50 cities in over 20 countries, with trains running along them transporting more than 5,000 types of goods.

Being the only national-level center in Northeast China for the consolidation of China-Europe trains, such a center in the city of Shenyang / administrative center of Liaoning Province / in its three years of existence has already ensured the dispatch of more than 2,200 China-Europe trains in both directions, serving over 3,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises, while the total cargo volume exceeded 240,000 TEU.

Trains departing from this center require only 12 days to reach Russia, and about 18 days to reach the deep regions of Europe, creating a golden overland logistics channel for foreign trade enterprises.

In order to further improve the level of service, the railway authorities of Liaoning Province have developed a targeted policy to enhance the organization of China-Europe freight train operations and reduce their customs clearance time. Currently, the China-Europe trains dispatched from Liaoning Province transport goods not only from Northeast China but also from other regions of the country, such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta.

In the future, the Shenyang branch of the China Railway Corporation will continue to fully utilize its geographical advantages and railway network functions, make every effort to organize China-Europe train traffic safely and efficiently, and give a strong impetus to Liaoning Province’s openness to the outside world and its comprehensive revitalization. -0-
