Kyiv, July 12 /Xinhua/ — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday announced an update to the country’s government composition on Telegram.
“Ukraine is changing its political strategy. For each priority direction of foreign policy, a specific person with extensive experience will be responsible, capable of implementing in practice what we agree on at the leaders’ level and what the Ukrainian people expect,” wrote V. Zelensky.
Among such directions, he mentioned cooperation with the United States in the field of security, the creation of a European air defense system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, strengthening ties with the European Union and advancing the path of European integration, strengthening relationships with Ukraine’s neighboring countries, especially Poland and Hungary, as well as with Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf states, China, and key international organizations.
V. Zelensky emphasized that the renewed government will also have to address many domestic tasks. These will include strengthening work in the frontline and border regions of Ukraine, improving the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian army, preparing for the new heating season, accelerating the transformation of state-owned companies, and the country’s recovery.
Separately, V. Zelensky proposed to the current Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko, to “lead a new important direction in relations with a key partner,” but did not specify exactly which position it concerns.
Meanwhile, later that same day, parliamentarian Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated that Y. Sviridenko might be appointed as Ukraine’s ambassador to the USA.
