Kunming, July 12 /Xinhua/ — Six people died as a result of a road traffic accident /RTA/ that occurred on Saturday in the Laochan township of Fuyuan County, Yunnan Province (Southwest China), the local public security bureau reported on Sunday.
According to local police, the concrete mixer overturned after colliding with a passenger car at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, resulting in the drum of the concrete mixer crushing the car, which led to the deaths of six people, including the driver of the car.
Upon receiving a report of the incident, public safety officers, together with emergency response teams, medical services, and other agencies, promptly arrived at the scene of the accident and began conducting rescue operations and investigating the causes of the crash.
The concrete mixer truck driver with the surname Liu was taken into police custody. Preliminary tests ruled out suspicions of drunk driving or drug use. Further investigation and procedures to mitigate the consequences of this accident are currently underway. -0-
