At the Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU), Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov awarded honors diplomas to 38 top graduates of pedagogical universities.

The first All-Russian Pedagogical Ball was held here. The event brought together 400 graduates from pedagogical universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education from various regions of the country.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the graduates have come a long way and received red diplomas. And this success is also the success of their families, teachers, and mentors. The Deputy Prime Minister added that the young people are entering the most important stage for which they have prepared so much: the graduates themselves will become teachers and mentors, teaching and educating other young people.

“Historically, enormous attention has always been paid to your profession in the country, but now our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is giving it unprecedented attention. Just recently, at the congress of “United Russia,” he made a decision to grant teachers a special status. That means now you will have a special status, not just a huge responsibility. In order for the entire education sector to work effectively, our President has provided for all the necessary measures. We even have a special national project “Youth and Children,” within which all necessary conditions are being created. This year alone, more than 1.1 thousand schools and over 650 kindergartens, schools, and colleges will undergo major renovations,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

He emphasized that all this infrastructure is being created so that graduates of pedagogical universities can best demonstrate the talents, gifts, and knowledge they acquired during their student years.

Dmitry Chernyshenko also spoke about the admission campaign and the high interest in pedagogical fields from applicants: “Applicants have already submitted 30% more applications for pedagogical specialties than a year ago. Currently, more than 380 thousand have been received. This indicates a huge interest in this field, a sphere of activity in our country.”

In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister wished the graduates good health and hoped that they would begin fulfilling their duties in their priority locations as soon as possible. These locations can be in different regions of the country.

The ceremonial awarding of red diplomas to the best students of pedagogical universities should become a tradition, emphasized Sergey Kravtsov.

“Today, students and graduates from all our pedagogical universities have gathered here. I want to congratulate each of you — the graduates who are already awaited in our schools. The future of our country today depends on the profession of teacher, educator. Special words of gratitude to the rectors of all our pedagogical universities present here, and to the teaching staff. We will continue to do everything to develop pedagogical education. I believe that the ceremonial festive awarding of red diplomas to the best students of pedagogical universities should become a true tradition,” said Sergey Kravtsov.

The minister also reminded about measures to support young teachers: a federal allowance for class supervision of 5,000 rubles per month, the “Zemsky Teacher” program with payments of up to 2 million rubles for those relocating to rural and border areas, mortgage benefits, and regional compensations. He also specifically noted named scholarships for students in teaching specialties — 5 scholarships named after outstanding educators, which are received monthly by the 50 best students, each amounting to 15,000 rubles.

In 2026, it will be six years since the pedagogical universities of Russia came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. During this time, five of these universities made it into the top 20 of the prestigious RAEX ranking in the field of “Pedagogy.” Today, over 220,000 students are enrolled in 36 pedagogical universities under the Ministry of Education. The organizers of the All-Russian Pedagogical Ball were the Ministry of Education of Russia and the Moscow State Pedagogical University.

The ball program also included the opening of the traditional costume exhibition “Heritage of Ancestors,” a festive procession of graduates in national costumes carrying regional flags, dance performances, and a meeting in the Imperial Hall with honorary guests.
