At the Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPGU), Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov awarded diplomas with honors to 38 of the best graduates from pedagogical universities.
The first All-Russian Pedagogical Ball was also held here. The event brought together 400 graduates from pedagogical universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education from different regions of the country.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the graduates have gone a long way and received red diplomas. And this success is also the success of their families, teachers, and mentors. The Deputy Prime Minister added that the young people are entering the most responsible stage for which they have prepared so much: the graduates themselves will become teachers and mentors, will teach and nurture other young people.
“Historically, your profession has always received great attention in the country, but now our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is giving it unprecedented attention. Just recently, at the congress of ‘United Russia,’ he made a decision regarding the special status of teachers. So now you will have a special status, not only tremendous responsibility. To ensure the entire education sector works effectively, our President has provided all the necessary measures. We even have a special national project ‘Youth and Children,’ within which all required conditions are being created. Just this year, more than 1.1 thousand schools, over 650 kindergartens, schools, and colleges will be extensively renovated,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He emphasized that all this infrastructure is created so that graduates of pedagogical universities can best demonstrate the talents, gifts, and knowledge they acquired during their student years.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also spoke about the progress of the admissions campaign and the high interest in pedagogical fields among applicants: “Applicants have already submitted 30% more applications for pedagogical specialties than a year ago. Currently, more than 380,000 applications have been received. This indicates a huge interest in this field, this area of activity in our country.”
In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister wished the graduates good health and that they could start their duties in their priority locations as soon as possible. These places could be in various regions of the country.
The solemn awarding of red diplomas to the best students of pedagogical universities should become a tradition, emphasized Sergey Kravtsov.
“Today, students and graduates from all our pedagogical universities have gathered here. I want to congratulate each of you — the graduates who are already awaited in our schools. The future of our country today depends on the profession of the teacher, the educator. Special words of thanks to the rectors of all our pedagogical universities present here, and to the teaching staff. We will continue to do everything to develop pedagogical education. I believe that the solemn ceremonial awarding of red diplomas to the best students of pedagogical universities should become a true tradition,” said Sergey Kravtsov.
The minister also recalled support measures for young teachers: a federal monthly allowance of 5,000 rubles for classroom management, the “Zemsky Teacher” program providing payments up to 2 million rubles for those relocating to rural areas and border regions, mortgage benefits, and regional compensations. He also specifically noted named scholarships for students in pedagogical specialties — five scholarships named after distinguished teachers awarded monthly to the top 50 students, each receiving 15,000 rubles.
In 2026, it will be six years since pedagogical universities in Russia were transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. During this time, five of these universities have entered the top 20 of the prestigious RAEX ranking in the field of “Pedagogy.” Today, more than 220,000 students are studying at 36 pedagogical universities under the Ministry of Education. The All-Russian Pedagogical Ball was organized by the Ministry of Education of Russia and the Moscow Pedagogical State University.
The ball program also included the opening of the traditional costume exhibition “Heritage of Ancestors,” a festive procession of graduates in national costumes carrying regional flags, dance performances, and a reception in the Imperial Hall with honored guests.
