Moscow, July 10 /Xinhua/ — From January to May 2026, the number of foreign tourists in Russia increased by 23 percent. This was reported to journalists by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, the government’s press service informed on Friday.
According to D. Chernyshenko, the number of foreign guests in Russia during this period amounted to 2 million people. To attract tourists from abroad, visa procedures are being actively simplified in the country. Visas have been canceled with China, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Myanmar. In addition, the list of countries whose citizens can enter Russia with an electronic visa has been expanded from 53 to 64, and the length of stay in the Russian Federation has been increased from 16 to 30 days.
In Russia, the availability of direct air connections with a number of countries is also being expanded. The route network with China and Vietnam has been extended, and in recent years flights from Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Vietnam, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia have become available.
