Madrid, July 10 /Xinhua/ — At least 11 people have died and 19 are reported missing as a result of a large forest fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in Andalusia in southern Spain. This was reported on Friday by regional authorities.
The President of the Andalusian regional government, Juanma Moreno, stated that the death toll may rise to 12, as another presumed victim has been found, but their identity has not yet been officially confirmed.
Antonio Sanz, acting regional Minister of Health, Presidency and Emergency Affairs, called the fire in Los Gallardos the deadliest forest fire in the history of Andalusia and an “unprecedented tragedy.”
According to A. Sans, among the victims are citizens of the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Spain. Their identities and citizenship have yet to be officially established. –0–
