Yinchuan, July 10 /Xinhua/ — On Thursday in Yinchuan, the administrative center of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (NHAR, Northwest China), an international conference titled “Xi Jinping’s Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and Their Significance for the World” was held. The theme of the event was “The Path to Modernization: Inspiration from China’s Theory and Practice in Poverty Alleviation.”

The event participants presented their views on China’s experience in poverty alleviation, governance, as well as Chinese modernization.

“Over the past decades, China has demonstrated to the world one of the most impressive examples of socio-economic development,” said Gulom Khalimzoda, chairman of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan, adding that during his stay in Gansu Province and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, he witnessed firsthand the scale of China’s success in eradicating absolute poverty.

According to him, Chinese practice proves that the effectiveness of social policy directly depends on the complete unity of goals and actions at all levels of power, coordinating the efforts of party and state bodies, business, and society.

He emphasized that the value of China’s experience for Central Asian countries lies precisely in the integrated system of institutions and mechanisms of socio-economic functioning.

“Deep mastery of Chinese principles and their adaptation taking into account our national characteristics will contribute to the further socio-economic development of Tajikistan and increase the effectiveness of our poverty reduction policy,” he shared.

“China has proven to the whole world that even the most complex social problems can be solved if state policy is consistent, long-term, and human-oriented,” noted Sofya Apaeva, director of the Kyrgyz-Chinese Research Institute of the Zh. Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University.

In her opinion, the Communist Party of China played an important role in achieving outstanding results in poverty alleviation by ensuring the consistent implementation of state policies at all levels of governance – from central authorities to rural communities.

She noted that for Kyrgyzstan, borrowing the most practical elements from China in the field of poverty reduction is ideal — targeted diagnosis of the causes of poverty, personalized assistance plans, a priority on job creation and local economic development, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of government agencies based on actual results in poverty reduction.

The conference was attended by more than 120 representatives from over 50 countries, including leaders of foreign political parties, diplomats accredited in China, researchers from think tanks, and media representatives. -0-
