Beijing, July 10 /Xinhua/ — In the first half of 2026, border control officers across the country checked documents and inspected a total of 369 million people entering and leaving China. This figure was 10.8 percent higher year-on-year, reaching a new historical record. This is evidenced by data released on Friday by China’s National Immigration Administration (NIA).
In particular, the number of foreign citizens entering China visa-free increased by 30.6 percent year-on-year to 17.8 million people, with their share reaching 77.7 percent of all foreign travelers arriving in the country during the reporting period, an official representative of GUM said at a press conference.
