Minsk, July 9 /Xinhua/ — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday in Minsk signed a Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations between the two countries. The signing took place during the official visit of the Uzbek leader to Belarus. Corresponding information was published by the press service of the head of the Belarusian state.
A. Lukashenko noted that the signing of the declaration is a historic step. “The document officially consolidates the high level of bilateral relations based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, trust, and consideration of each other’s interests,” he explained.
In turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the signing of the declaration marks the beginning of a new chapter in interstate cooperation. “In this document, we have confirmed a unified course towards the long-term development of partnership and friendly relations,” the publication “Belarus Today” quotes him as saying.
The declaration is aimed at deepening cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport logistics, and various areas of interregional cooperation. In addition, following the talks between the two heads of state, a package of cooperation documents was signed, covering the fields of finance, forestry, tourism, science and technology, and light industry.
The President of Uzbekistan stated that the results of his current visit to Belarus will contribute to the further strengthening of strategic partnership, as well as the goals of sustainable development and prosperity of the two countries and their peoples.
According to A. Lukashenko, Uzbekistan is among Belarus’s top ten foreign partners. He expressed confidence that the two countries have real opportunities to reach a trade turnover of 2 billion US dollars by 2030, including through the intensification of cooperation in the fields of mechanical engineering, agriculture, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. –0–
