In Russia, as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” active work is underway on the construction, reconstruction, and repair, including major repairs, of artificial structures located on regional and local roads. This year, bridge builders are working on more than 500 bridges and overpasses with a total length of 56 thousand linear meters, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin reported.
“In the development of road activities, we continue to pay close attention to bringing bridges and overpasses up to regulatory standards. These are crucial elements of the road network, ensuring the capacity and resilience of the entire transport system of the region and the country. Since the beginning of the year, within the framework of the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life,’ 15 artificial structures with a total length of 1.3 thousand linear meters have been put into operation. Overall, this year, bridge builders are working on over 500 bridges and overpasses with a total length of 56 thousand linear meters. Most of them will be commissioned this year,” reported Marat Khusnullin.
Not only large bridge structures conform to regulations, but also small crossings, on which the transport accessibility of settlements and the mobility of local residents depend.
“Quality control of work on such facilities is our priority because new and renovated structures must be safe and meet all modern requirements and standards. In 2026, under the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” about 400 bridges and overpasses located on regional and local highways will be commissioned. Their total length will exceed 30 thousand linear meters,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
Recall that large-scale work on the construction and renovation of artificial structures on the country’s roads began thanks to the national project “Safe and High-Quality Roads” and continued thanks to its successor – the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
“Just ten years ago, the issue of bridge repairs in the regions was quite acute. Thanks to the support of the Government of Russia, the Ministry of Transport of Russia, as well as the implementation of the National Road Project, the problem of emergency and pre-emergency structures is being resolved gradually. Only in 2025, in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation participating in the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” more than 500 artificial structures with a total length of about 37 thousand linear meters were put into operation. Many of them are located directly in populated areas. They connect neighborhoods with the center, link different parts of cities and towns, and pass over railway tracks. Undoubtedly, the renovation of such objects significantly improves people’s quality of life, which is the main goal of the national project,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency, Radik Farazutdinov.
On the Day of the Formation of the Altai Republic – July 3, 2026 – in the Mayminsky District, the new bridge over the Katun River near the village of Platovo was ceremonially opened for traffic. Previously, residents had to use the old single-lane structure, which had long ceased to meet modern requirements for load capacity and throughput.
In Orenburg, this year the reconstruction work on the bridge crossing over the Sakmara River on Bratyev Korostelyovykh Avenue will be completed. The structure will connect the street and road network of Orenburg with the federal highway M-5 “Ural”; in addition, it will provide transport accessibility to several settlements: Podgorodnyaya Pokrovka, Solovyovka, Pavlovka, and the Stepanosvsky farmstead. The new structure will be able to withstand significant loads – vehicles weighing up to 100 tons. Full completion of the work is planned by the end of 2026.
Another significant structure for Orenburg is the road bridge over the Ural River on Donguzskaya Street, stretching 402.4 linear meters. This is the main route connecting the city center with the Yuzhny and Karachi neighborhoods, the Kuznechny, Yuzhny Ural settlements, the Aviagorodok neighborhood, the villages of 9 January, Nizhnyaya Pavlovka, and others. The bridge also serves routes leading to Sol-Iletsk and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In Nizhny Novgorod, the major overhaul of the overpass near the Myzinsky Bridge will be completed this road season. This is an important infrastructure facility that connects the upper and the beyond-the-river parts of the city.
In the Perm region, major repairs are underway on two bridges on the regional Chernyushka – Tyush – Yavgildino route in the Oktyabrsky district – over the Ater and Almaz rivers. The bridge over the Ater is located near the Shchuchye Ozero settlement. Its length is 16 linear meters. The Chernyushka – Tyush – Yavgildino route connects several small settlements with district and regional centers, and also provides access to the M-12 “Vostok” expressway (Dyurtyuli – Achit section).
