Beijing, July 8 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management of China on Wednesday allocated 50 million yuan (approximately 7.34 million USD) from the central disaster relief fund to support disaster relief efforts in Hubei and Gansu provinces.
It was previously reported that on the evening of July 6 in Hubei (Central China) a tornado rare for this province swept through, and the following morning a landslide occurred in Tanzhou County, Gansu Province (Northwest China), which led to numerous casualties and material damage.
Of the allocated funds, 20 million yuan will be used for housing the victims and reconstructing damaged homes in Hubei province, and 30 million yuan will be directed to Gansu for the needs of search and rescue operations, evacuation of the affected, elimination of the consequences of the geological disaster, and identification of potential threats of secondary disasters. -0-
