Budapest Will Not Send Weapons or Troops to Ukraine — Prime Minister of Hungary

Ankara, July 8 /Xinhua/ — Hungary will not send weapons and troops to Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Márki-Zay said here on Wednesday, while emphasizing Budapest’s readiness to provide humanitarian aid to Kiev and maintain NATO unity.

Explaining to journalists the position of the Hungarian government regarding the ongoing conflict before the NATO summit, P. Magyar stated: “We continue to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, but… Hungary will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine.”

P. Magyar also reported that on Tuesday he had a brief conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that the two leaders agreed to hold a bilateral meeting in the near future. –0–
