Nanning, July 7 /Xinhua/ — As of Tuesday evening, six people have died and 11 others are reported missing due to floods caused by heavy rains in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region /South China/, local authorities reported.
According to officials at a press conference, the heavy rains caused by Typhoon “Maysak” affected 375 thousand residents of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. A total of 130 thousand people have been evacuated from the affected areas.
A rescue operation is currently underway in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It involves more than 8,000 people, over 1,700 units of equipment, and 5,700 floating means, which are being used for search and rescue efforts and for mitigating the consequences of the natural disaster. –0–
