Moscow, July 7 /Xinhua/ — The situation in Russia’s domestic fuel market remains tense considering the summer peak demand and unscheduled repairs of oil refineries. The government will take all possible measures to supply the market with petroleum products. This was stated on Tuesday by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at a government meeting on the fuel market situation.
“The current situation, taking into account the summer peak in demand and unscheduled repairs of oil refineries, remains tense,” noted A. Novak.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the stable operation of the domestic fuel market and the uninterrupted supply of fuel to the regions remain an unconditional priority. “The relevant agencies, regional authorities, and industry companies have been instructed to continue daily monitoring of the situation, ensure coordination of actions among all market participants, and promptly take all possible, including additional, measures to prevent local disruptions in fuel supplies,” the Russian government statement following the meeting said.
As A. Novak previously informed Russian media, the country experienced fuel supply disruptions this summer caused by changes in logistics. To ensure fuel availability, a series of measures have been introduced: gasoline exports are banned for everyone until July 31, diesel exports are banned for non-producers, changes have been made to exchange trading to contain prices and redistribute fuel volumes, and tax incentives have been provided for fuel imports and for increasing its production in Russia. –0–
