Tashkent, July 7 /Xinhua/ — The First International Forum on Islamic Civilization “The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment” opened on Tuesday in the capital of Uzbekistan.
The event is attended by hundreds of scientists, religious figures, representatives of government delegations, and leaders of international organizations from more than 40 countries around the world. The forum is organized at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by the Center of Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan together with the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture /ISESCO/ and a number of national research institutes.
Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan Khairiddin Sultanov read out Sh. Mirziyoyev’s address to the forum participants. In his message, the president noted that the restoration and preservation of the heritage of Islamic civilization, support for fundamental research, training of highly qualified specialists, and expansion of international humanitarian cooperation have become some of the most important priorities of Uzbekistan’s state policy. He emphasized that science and education remain the greatest unifying and creative forces of our time, a solid foundation for peace and sustainable development, and called on the international community to cooperate for these noble goals.
At the ceremony, a welcome message from the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was also read. He pointed out that this forum is an important initiative that contributes to strengthening peace, developing dialogue, and establishing mutual trust in the modern system of international relations.
The forum will run until July 11. Within its framework, four international scientific conferences will be held in Samarkand and Termez, dedicated to the academic study of historical, cultural, and scientific heritage. –0–
