Bishkek, July 7 /Xinhua/ — An “emergency situation” involving an aircraft of the Kyrgyz airline occurred on Tuesday at Manas International Airport in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, resulting in several people being injured. This was reported by the Kyrgyz national news agency Kabar, citing the press service of the company “Airports of Kyrgyzstan.”

According to preliminary data, during takeoff the rear landing gear of the TezJet airline’s aircraft broke, causing the aircraft to tilt onto the left wing and, failing to take off, to collapse onto the runway. There was also a spill of aviation kerosene.

It is clarified that there were 181 passengers and 6 crew members on board. All passengers were promptly evacuated from the cabin. There are no seriously injured as a result of the incident, but several people suffered minor injuries and bruises. Medics are providing them with first aid at the airport terminal.

“Firefighters and airport emergency services are working at the scene. Currently, all flights at Manas International Airport are suspended,” the company reported.

The airport is closed until 22:00 local time. The State Agency for Civil Aviation of Kyrgyzstan will investigate the causes and circumstances of the aviation incident. –0–
